Plane seating system for wheelchair users

Mobility takes flight

London-based transport design studio PriestmanGoode has unveiled Air 4 All, a plane seating system that allows powered wheelchair users to stay in their own chairs for the entire journey. Currently being developed as a prototype, the design concept looks like a regular airline seat, but the seat base flips up to accommodate a wheelchair, with guide rails to position the chair and a locking system to hold it in place. When there's no wheelchair present, the seat works just like a regular airline seat. According to the designers, Air 4 All will give powered wheelchair users equal access to safe, comfortable and dignified air travel, while letting the airline companies maintain their seat count.

Live 1,000 lives

A new recruitment ad for the NHS aims to increase applications to the service by highlighting the real-life experiences of front-line workers. The 60-second slot shows the work of midwives, social care staff and other NHS workers accompanied by an emotive voiceover that speaks of the human impact of their life-saving work. 'I have lived 1,000 lives. I am every one of them, and they are me.'
